H-TLC Torque Limiter I can even handle oil!

H-TLC Torque Limiter – I can even handle oil!

H-TLC – Zero-Max’s innovative overload protection for demanding environments and applications

The H-TLC torque limiter is designed to disengage in the event of an overload, thereby reliably protecting both the machine and the processed materials. Consistent, reliable, and repeatable disengagement behavior makes this overload protection particularly suitable for corrosive applications. This is primarily supported using composite coupling components, which allow for operation in moist and corrosive environments.

As an option, the H-TLC offers the ability to integrate an actuation disc, which makes it possible to indicate an overload condition using an initiator and to safely initiate shutdown of the system.

The H-TLC is a cost-effective torque limiter with bidirectional operation that automatically resets in the event of an overload as soon as the torque falls below the set disengagement torque. The H-TLC operates within a temperature range of -40 °C to 82 °C and can be configured as a shaft-to-shaft (Type C) unit. Optionally, pulleys or sprockets can be integrated by incorporating a bore sleeve (Type B).

The H-TLC is a complementary product in the Torq-Tender product line for overload protection. The H-TLC is available in two sizes and covers a setting range from 0.5 Nm to 56.5 Nm.

By standard, the H-TLC offers multiple reset positions (multi-position behavior), e.g., 6 x 60° within full rotation (360°). A version with a single reset position (synchronous disengagement) is available as an option and engages once every 360°.

Features:

  • The H-TLC overload coupling can be operated while fully submerged in oil.
  • In the past, projects have been successfully implemented with position reset to one or two positions.
  • The H-TLC is an alternative product solution to friction-based torque limiters. During operation, conventional slip coupling devices generate heat and wear, which inevitably compromise performance and precision. The H-TLC benefits from its material selection and alternative operating principle and is therefore not affected by these issues.
  • Examples of customization to meet individual requirements include customer-specific bore sizes and tolerances, special tooth profiles and keyways, specialized coatings and materials, food-grade lubricants, specific disengagement characteristics, and much more.

Application areas of the H-TLC

In the past, applications in the field of packaging technology have emerged as ideal areas of use. Feeding and indexing screws, in particular, benefit from the use of the H-TLC.

In this field, accelerating, decelerating, aligning, sorting, and separating individual containers is an essential part of the process.

The H-TLC provides cost-effective overload protection for unexpected load conditions and features a “wash-down” capability. Applications in food processing benefit from this product feature.

Possible Applications:

  • Feeding and separating containers and jars
  • Conveyor belts in washing processes
  • Hanging conveyors for dry cleaning processes
  • Applications using star wheels (separating, merging)
  • Use in oil-contaminated environments
